Thanks to the North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) Bowdon received a $3000 Community Arts Access grant which is being used to upgrade the rail system in the art gallery, support the costs of the 2018 art show, and add an art social on Friday night featuring a demonstration and talk by artist, Barbara Nechiporenko. The art show opens with the art social from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12 and the doors reopen on Saturday, October 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Two hundred regional artists plus area schools and statewide art councils will be invited to participate in this year’s Duck Fest Art Show. There will be five categories of art receiving awards. People’s Choice awards will be $100 first place and $50 honorable mention for (1) Photography, (2) Two-dimensional painting, (3) Two-dimensional design — drawing, print making, etc., (4) Three-dimensional design –sculpture, pottery, woodworking, etc. and (5) Youth – ages 10-15. There will also be two Judge’s Awards: $200 Best in Show Adult and $50 Best in Show Youth. A total of $1000 in awards will be presented with funds donated by local banks and utility companies who sponsor the art show annually.
